Lake City Michigan is situated about 60 miles south of Traverse City right on Lake Missaukee. There is plenty of recreation in the summer and, from what I am told, in the winter too. Each September they host the Festival of the Pines celebrating the lumbering heritage of the region. It’s not uncommon to see a logger truck or two rolling through town. While in town checkout Tasty Treat which claims the “Largest Cones in the North” (If you get the full size cone you’ll know they are serious) or checkout Frontier BBQ which opens in the morning and closes when they sell out of the goods. Then close out the day with a sunset over the lake.
